A LOT happened!!!
27 april 2017 - Riobamba, Ecuador
We were picked up by the great team of Guide Marc and Driver Marco. They worked together for quite some time so all went smooth and well; when heading for the hotel in Quito we were on the main road of 6 lanes when all of a sudden the tourbus stopped; Marco stayed behind while one of his collegues came to pick us up. It seemed that the bus never had issues before. Yet this time one of the fuses broke down.
Later on our journey, we coped 2 flat tires when heading for the jungle a few days ago. So we had to walk a mile with luggage to get to the canoes. The bridge we were supposed to cross at first with the tourbus collapsed by severe rainfall so we had to make a detour to even get to the canoes! We made it to Tena Jungle tho:-)
Lunch in Puyo just 2 days ago. Big rain came down on us when we ran from the bus to the restaurant. Ordering and serving went pretty slow, but thete was enough to chat about anyways. None of us is fond of tv while eating. Gladly Ecuadorian news was on: landslides near Guayaguil and also Cuenca; both on our routes!!!! Even though Quito had already been some days ago, the town was in the news due to floods thanks to heavy showers.
Today we found out that we need to change our itinerairy to get to Cuenca on time.
Tonight we decided to skip the gorg trainride at the Nariz del Diablo... Than we can at least do the Archeological IngaPirca.
So much happened! So little time to blog! So little Wi-Fi!
I posted 2 photos and will update whenever I can.
This means I still need to go back in time quite often and update here and there.
Take care guys! TTYL!
Take care guys! TTYL!
Geniet er van meisje.
Mooie foto in de sneeuw.
Hugs,
Martha
Wat leuk dat je de hoedenfabricage hebt gezien.
Zijn echt hele mooie stukken.
Lekker genieten, beso mama
Paula, coca tea is really good stuff! It helped us big time to conquer the Chimborazo. I had some coca leafs but threw them away just now: I can *not* take them home :-( Well, the Netherlands is as flat as a pancake so they won't be of any use anyway, LOL!
Martha, if you only knew! :-))) Even our guide and driver had never had such an adventurous tour in their 20 year old career! Hickups make you feel alive ;-) Oooohw if I only had time to post all at once... You only know a little part so far, LOL.
More coming!
als je thuis komt heb ik heel wat te zien geloof ik.
Al bekomen van de schrik van je buiteling? Niet te veel coca thee ;-))
Beso ma
Enjoy!!!
I examened the clasp and I indeed hope my LD can take the top down... She is such a dear.
Mom, Nature here is too gorgeous to resist some action. So yeah, I passed the shock pretty fast in order to continue :-)))
We also had been in the National Park El Cajas the other day; muddy paths, steep walks and many rocks but despite slipping once I also beat that area. It was a 2 hour hike.
And than tubing down the river in the jungle!! Soooo awesome! But when 2 currents collide and the 'wrong' current taked you in another direction... You sit there like 'What the heck? :')'
Guides were very good though! They pull us through any onstacle!
Zo'n kans krijg je niet zo vaak. Lekker genieten en veel doen.
;-))
Looks like an incredible time!!!
Lovya!!!
Kus van mij en jullie neefie
Mom, you know like no one how long I wanted to go there ;-) Doing it for Real after wishing it for 30 years is epic! I am happy I can share this with my hubbie after all that we had gone through.
Jaap sais HI!
Paula McG... We got here safe and sound yesterday. Wildlife is AMAZING!!! Hope to be able to share a bit before we leave San Chrisóbal tomorrow!!!
Groetjes terug.
Actually, one day later on May 5th -uhm I guess it was!- we did see them!!! There must have been about 30, 40?! Some estimated them at 50!!!
Making photos was hard though :-(
Either some one else beat your spot to make good pics or waves were too high to really catch them on time...
At least I do have the memory and the blessful feeling of seeing them in their own habitat <3
