Climbing Chimborazo Vulcano

27 april 2017 - Chimborazo, Ecuador

This is the highest Ecuadorian vulcano and when officially calculated from the centre of earth it's even higher than the Mt. Everest!
We started the climb at 4800 metres at 13.09 PM. J arrived at the Refugio at 5054 metres (16,000+ feet) after 40 minutes already and F after 51 minutes.

When at these hights you *have* to drink at least 2 litres of water in advance, do a proper lunch pref banana included. Prefered drinking coca tea. Take chocolate bars and coke with you when going up and walk as slow as a granny of 90 y.o.
A good watch is a must have!!! To prevent HighSickness which can lead to lifethreatening danger you must stop climbing at 60 minutes no matter what! You max at the top is 30 minutes. Get down in another 30.
So it goes for non-practiced climbers at least?!

Keep in mind that the difference in height is just 254 mettes; but walking distance is about 1 kilometre!!!
