Landslides, water destroyed routes... Yet our journey continues!

28 april 2017 - Ingapirca, Ecuador

A few days ago we had lunch in Puyo and I watched Ecuadorian news. Shocked by 3 people that died from Mother Natures Terrors in this rainseason I learned that floods happened at Guayaquil (we go there May 1st) and a landslide happened in Chunchi…
The last one we would encounter if we should go to El Nariz del Diablo; a detour that would cost us hours.
All agreed to skip that awesome trainride and head for IngaPirca that was on our list too. But a few months ago the newer bridge was torn away by rapid water in the river. We need to take a secundairy road and cross the old Bailey Bridge.
This photo shows the secundairy road in rain season, and the newer bridge that they are working on for months. Isn't it a hilarious idea, that we take the old route and see that the bridge will be restored maybe tomorrow or Monday?!
The pic in the right downcorner is one of the signs that you see occasionally; President Correa is trying to make people see how we should take better care of our environments. The great ecological system in the tropical- and rainforests are damaged due to bad agriculture and littering:-(
